1. A Path with Heart: Learning Tarot Through the Hero's Journey offered by Juanita Cheng

Description:

Have you ever laid out your cards in a perfect celtic cross, only to mutter, "Ooooookay, but what's the big picture?" Tarot is more than the assembled cards and the "cheat sheet" booklet that describes them. Tarot is a gateway to Spirit. Through it, Spirit tells the evolutionary story of the soul. Yours. Mine.

"A Path with Heart: Learning Tarot Through the Hero's Journey" gives you the tools to see beyond individual card meanings. We are all the Hero (the Fool). This workshop will help you to hear Spirit through this visually rich medium, to develop your intutive abilities and read the story from the Hero's perspective.

Juanita Cheng has been reading Tarot for over 20 years. Her approach is archetypal and intuitive, humorous and insightful.

This workshop series will help you connect to your own intuition, to "hear" and read the whole story, and discover A Path with Heart. * Each workshop consists of 4 classes over 4 weeks. The format includes both study and practice.
* The first workshop, Foundations, gives you the basic vocabulary and personality of the cards by understanding the Fool's Journey, as well as basic numerology. It will furnish you with the ability to "hear" Spirit, and to construct sentences and paragraphs of your readings.
* The second and third workshops, Connections and Wholeness, take you to the next level of connection, deepening your relationship to suits, numerology, and elements. Through extensive practice your ability to hear Spirit telling its tale through the cards will evolve.
* Workshops 2 and 3 will be held this summer, scheduling TBA.

Fee: Workshop 1 - Foundations - $108 When: Wednesdays, beginning May 14 thru June 4 Where: Moon Dancer Metaphysical 4484 Corrales Rd., Corrales NM Call: 505-899-2963 or 505-573-0745 to register

2. Spirit Mediumship and Channeling for Everyday People offered by Elizabeth Anglin

Think John Edward is special? So are you. Spirit Mediumship is for everyday people, not just television stars and swamis.

Spirit Mediumship can provide a deeper understanding of life and the soul's evolution, putting everyday joys and difficulties into a larger, life- purpose perspective.

This six-week series will help you develop your god-given skills of clairvoyance, clairaudience, and clairsentience.

You will be introduced to your guides and helpers in spirit, and will practice giving and receiving messages in a traditional mediumship circle.

If you have lost a loved one, and are seeking to connect... this class is for you.

If you are curious and willing to be a vehicle for connection... this class is for you.

Reverend Elizabeth Anglin, a non-denomenational minister, teaches Spirit Mediumship as taught through the Ayer Institute, the teaching body of the First Spiritual Temple, the oldest Christian Spiritualist Church in North America.

Fee: $150 When: Tuesdays, beginning May 13 thru June 17 Where: Moon Dancer Metaphysical 4484 Corrales Rd., Corrales NM Call: 505-899-2963 or 505-314-4181 to register

Faces Athena Facets and Faces of Deity This Issue: Athena by: Juanita Cheng New to the Moon Dancer Newsletter is a series of articles looking at the many faces of the Divine, and how we have interpreted them. Throughout human history, the Divine has made itself manifest to us in many forms, showing us various facets and revealing itself in the aspects most accessible to each culture. The Moon Dancer Newsletter will offer portraits of these many faces and how they have been seen through the eyes of humanity. This issue, we'll look at Athena. Athena is the Greek Goddess of wisdom and war, the patron goddess of Athens. She was also the patroness of spiritual quests and clever heroes (much preferring intelligence over muscle), as well as civilization and the civilized arts. She is the giver of such useful gifts as weaving, the olive tree, the flute, the bridle, the plow and many more, as well as larger gifts such as law and a judicial system. Her attributes are intelligence, courage, self-confidence, creativity, judiciousness, and fairness. Her totems are the snake and the owl. Let me start by saying that I consider myself a devotee of this aspect of God/dess. I suppose I have been since I first began to read. But my many meditations upon her led me to feel very strongly that the surviving Greek myths do not describe her at all. What I sensed of her presence was something far more vast, deep and awesome (in the true breath-gasping sense of the word) than anything these stories presented. Athena was in utero when her mother, Metis, was swallowed by her father, Zeus (these things happen). Metis was the Titaness of wisdom and deep thought. Her name also meant "magical intelligence". After nine-months, Zeus was in horrible pain from a headache bad enough to split him open. And so it did. Out sprang Athena from the top of Zeus' head, fully grown and armored. "Storm-eyed" Athena became Zeus' favortie child, honored above all others, the only deity besides Zeus himself who could weild his thunderbolt. Ok, now let's slow this down. What's really going on when you look at the symbolic meanings of these events? Zeus seduces "wisdom and magical intelligence", then swallows her. Nine months later, up rises Athena from the depths of his torso, exiting from the top of his head. Does this odd "birth canal" seem familiar? Doesn't the Kundalini rise from the base of our chakral system to our Sahastraha chakra at the top of our heads to give us enlightenment? Zeus must first fully absorb wisdom and magic (ie. alchemy, ie. soul-trasnformation). After he has done so, and experienced ego-death as a result (symbolized by the intense pain of the headache), he receives his enltightenment. Whose birth story is this then, Zeus' or Athena's? Because in this story it is clear: Athena is more than her father's daughter. She is Kundalini energy. She is soul force, life force gathered to the thread of knowledge and wisdom. Her totem is the snake, and the Kundalini is the coiled energy, often depicted as a snake. She, then, gives her father his enlightenment. Further, "Wisdom" is the cosmic androgyn, possessing all the qualities of "maleness" and "femaleness" - fully woman and fully man. Zeus honors Athena above all others, seeks her council before all others, because in her "male-wisdom" and "female-wisdom" fully inform each other; they are harmonized and united. Athena is the personification of the Ying/Yang. This was what I felt, this was what I saw every time I meditated upon her. Finally, in a fit of left-brain-right-brain doe-see-doe-ing, I decided to see if there was historical evidence to support this intuitive knowledge. And it was there! The key is the Gorgon, also called the Medusa. The indiginous inhabitants of Attica prior to its conquest by the Achaeans (whom we now know as the Athenean Greeks) were a matriarchal society whose primary deific figure was a Goddess solar deity. The indigenous Atticans, originally from North Africa, called themselves the Gorgons. The name of their primary deity was Neith (pronounced Neeth). She was a creatrix deity, often depectied as posessing both male and female genitalia. She was the life-giving aspect of the sun, depicted as a disc emanating snakes as rays, Medusa-like. Neith was also the Goddess of wisdom, the patron goddess of strategic warfare for the protection of her children. She was the giver of civilized crafts, weaving in particular. Her totemic symbol was the snake. She was often called Owl-eyed.Is this sounding at all familiar? In spite of their conquered state, the indiginous Attican population remained so loyal to their Goddess Neith that the patriarchal Greek conquerers were compelled to fit her into their male-oriented pantheon. But... there was a problem. Females weren't supposed to DO or BE those things! They couldn't be great warriors and tacticians, much less primary life-force solar deities. Hmmm. Left with little choice, the Greeks transfered much of Neith/Athena's power to her father. They removed her sexual energy - which was both extremely female and extremely male - reducing her to an asexual tomboy. And in the ultimate act of hegemony, they had Athena destroy the Medusa - the very image which once represented her Life-generative, mystical qualities. In some myths, Athena herself slew "the Gorgon". In others, she hires Perseus to do it - and he gives Athena the gift of the Medusa's severed head. Which she later wears upon either her vest or upon her shield. Talk about bling. When we look at this history of Athena/Neith and follow the thread of symbolist clues, we see Athena's divine nature clearly: She did not slay the Medusa, she WAS the Medusa - solar snake-energy, the energy of thought, of life-force, of creation and realization. Comparing Athena/Neith's original divine nature to the Athena described in existing Greek myth, then, is much like comparing Gnostic gospels to the four remain gospels of the New Testement. One version is empowering, life-affirming, generative, creative. The other is... limited, somewhat contridictory, somewhat confusing, and shaped/promoted by a hierarchical male power structure. Who is Athena/Neith? She is within all of us. She is the Greek conception of Kundalini - the life force energy which enlightens, feeds, grows and protects us all.

Cranius Berrius Talk to the Animals: Cranberry - former bait dog, now home-front hero! by: Elizabeth Anglin

I met Cranberry for the first time in front of Juanita's home in Corrales. She greeted me at the front gate with a typical guard dog visage (she is a Sharpei-Pit Bull cross) but inconguently wielding a wildly wagging tail and fabulous diamond studded collar. "Is it OK for me to enter through this gate?" I thought at her. "Of course!" she thought back at me, tail wagging faster. I looked closely at her again... she looked immensely fierce as a being, but also happy and friendly in the moment. "OK." I thought, mainly to myself, somewhat to her. "Here I go." hoping my read of her nature was correct. She leaned against my legs and let me pet her from head to tail, which was wagging even more furiously... and then she began to "Grrrrrrrrrrrrooowl." "Make no sudden moves..." I thought to myself. "Keep petting her..." More growls, ecstatic seeming growls, happy wagging tail, and deep growling. Juanita stepped out of the house "Oh, Hi Elizabeth. I see you and Cranberry have met. Don't worry about the growling, that's just her 'happy noise.'" "Good to know!" I keep petting her.. experiencing the clear feeling that this is a good dog to make happy. Juanita rescued Cranberry via the Watermellon Mountain animal rescue group. They'd found Cranberry at the Valencia County animal shelter on "death-row". Animal controll there had just broken up a fight-dog ring and Cranberry had been used as "bait" - a dog that's thrown in with the two fighting dogs to get their blood going prior to a fight. When Juanita found her she was covered in scars and scabs, she couldn't open her eyes, and her energy was so low the family wondered whether she'd survive. She improved daily, and is now an increadibly happy, brave and affectionate dog. Two weeks after our first meeting, I connected to Cranberry in an animal communication session with Juanita. She presented herself much the way she was when we met in person... wiggly, happy, furiously wagging tail, and very excited that Juanita was choosing to allow her to communicate telepathically. "Love you! Love you!" she told me to tell Juanita. "She loves you." I said. "I know... I love her too." Juanita said. "She knows...that makes her happy, she's growling." Juanita laughs. In her own communications with Cranberry, Juanita had seen that they had been together for many, many lifetimes, and Cranberry was always her fierce protector. "What I want to know is what she remembers of our past lifetimes together...." I see Juanita as a little girl, with the date above her head "1960" implied as a decade. "What were you doing in the 60's and what dog did you know then?" "Our family didn't have a dog then.... but, my grandfather did. Sultan, a big beautiful Belgian shepard, who was very fierce - except with me." I see the image of a Sharpei Pitbull standing on her back legs and clapping her paws together... "That was meeeeeee!" her tail wags wildly." "Oh my God." Juanita says. "That makes sense, Sultan was always with me when I visited my grandfather. He loved me. He protected me." I see Cranberry's tail wag even faster. "Cranberry thought it was increadibly funny to find you as a girl in this lifetime!" Juanita laughs again, hard. "Well, she'd been my hunt-dog and war-dog a bunch of times before, soooo..... Hey, can you tell Cranberry she doesn't have to be my guard dog/protector in this life? That she can just chill out and cuddle and sleep and just be?" Before I can relay the message Cranberry responds, loudly and clearly. "THAT's what YOU think!" Cranberry shows me herself, telepathically reading people's energy and intentions. If they are like me - arriving to see Juanita as invited, or even if not invited, arriving to see Juanita meaning only good things and friendship, Cranberry will let them pass through the gate - after she has received her fair share of petting. BUT if they do not mean well and have bad intentions, Cranberry will spring upon them in full attack. "Oh my...." I tell Juanita. "Cranberry can read people's energy and intentions. If a person doesn't have good intentions, she will attack! And they won't stand a chance." Cranberry shows me a future scenario, with Juanita living in the mountains and traveling to places where not many people are. Cranberry is there to let her know whether or not she can trust people she meets along the way. "Protecting Juanita is my job, and she is going to need me to do this job in this lifetime." "OK Cranberry." I reply. "I will let her know." Juanita looks thoughtful at this news. "I was hoping she wouldn't have to do that kind of work in this lifetime... that this go-round could just be a break for her. Can you ask her if she has gotten over being a bait dog?" I ask Cranberry, who shows me her body still being in a state of hyper-vigilance, while her mind is quite calm, she mentally and emotionally feels safe and well. "She is over it mentally," I tell her, "but her body is not over it, and will probably not get over it." "Did she chose to be a bait-dog in this lifetime or was it just a horrible thing that happened to her?" Cranberry's tail wags furiously again, she looks up at me in full dog smile. "Tell her I did it because I knew it was the fastest way to get back to her. I wanted to make sure I got to her as quickly as possible!" And so she did. Cranberry also promised to return to Juanita after she passes over... two years later at the most. So here we have a beautiful human-canine relationship. One that has existed before this life time, and more than once in this lifetime! We all have these blessed animal friends in our lives for a reason. Bless them, one and all!

Monthly Spiritual Recipe: A Great Auric Cleansing Bath!

This is a great healing bath when you feel exhausted and/or covered in energetic gunk. It really scrubs your auric body and rejuvinates you!

To a tub of hot water, add the following:

* 1 cup sea salt * 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar * 7 drops of lavendar oil * You may also add a few drops of Rosemary oil for protection. Or Myrh oil to re-awaken and re-vitalize your goddess energies. * Dropping a quartz point into the tub will give the cleansing added ooomph.

And that's it! Now settle in, soak and enjoy! You will actually feel as though your very cells are draining out negative energy Allow yourself to feel reborn. Salt is of the earth; the sea is Earth-Mother's womb. Let her energies heal and cleanse you.

When you are finished, take a quick shower/rinse! This completely rinses off the negative energy.

If you like you can stand and watch the negative bleckh drain out of the tub. Just wave good bye and have a great evening aftwards. Hydtrate, meditate, and know that you are now, and always have been, a pure being, daughter/son of the divine!
